Here is the promised letter i found dated 1977.
First generation:
Richard Greene b.ca 1655-65 in England d.--------Hunterdon, co. N.J.
Excerpt from a N.J.history of trenton.
In 1678 on the 10th day of Dec. ,the Shield arrived from Hull,England.
This was the first ship that ascended the river as far as Burlington. She
moored to a tree and the nexy morning the passengers walked ashore on
ice,among the passengers who came who came on the SHIELD was a young
Richard Greene.
It is assumed that he marr, in N.J.
It is known that he had two sons:
George, who died in 1711,and William.who died in 1722.
No birth dates given.
He probably had more children.
Second Generation:
Judge William Greene b. --------------Hunterdon, co. N.J.d.1722 ,same
place.
md. Joanna Reeder b.1667 in N.J.(dau. of John Reeder Jr. b. 1645 in
N.J.),No date given.
,But his father,John Sr. was bn.1610 in England.
He Md. Margaret------------ whod. in Newton, Long Island 1660.
John Reeder ,Jrs. wife,Joanne Joanna Burroughs,was a daughter of John
Burroughs,and Joanna Jessup of Newton,Long Island.
It seema that William Greene moved to philadelphia for a time, thwn to
Long Island where he marr.Joanna.
They later returened to Humtredon, Co.N.J. ,where he became a judge.
His will ( lib. 2, p.240,proved JUNE 1ST,1723.
states sons, Richard and Joseph as executors and is witnessed by
Christopher Howell, wILLIAM Reed, David Howell,.
His Children as listed in the will All Greene:
Richard,Joseph,William,Joanna,Sarah,Benjamin,John,Jerimiah,Isaac,Esther,and
Mary.
Judge Willioam Greene Supposedly had a brother GeorgeGreene b. ca. 1680.
Most of this information was sent to the writer by Mr.Alton Greene of
Sanger, Texas.
who is a desacendant of Jeremiah Greene II and III.
Third Generation:
Jeremiah Greene B.------------Hunter don, Co. N.J. d. 1763 Rowan, Co.
N.C.
m. Joanna Hunt ,Dau. of John and Margaret (moore Hunt).
Joanna is a sister to Daniel Hunt.
The Greenes and Hunts went to Rowan, Co. N.C. soon after the county was
established.
Rowan,co. N.C. Inferior court minutes:
Oct. 23 ,1756: Public tax levied. Jeremiah Green on jury.
Oct.19,1757: Jeremiah Green executor of John Garrett's
Wed. Jan. 12 1763: Ordered per court on motion of Mr. Fanning that Hannah
Green, Richard Green,and Issac Green have letters of administration of
the estate of Jeremiah Green,dec'd,upon giving security Peter Feagley and
J.B.Stagner in the sum of 600 lbs.. Proc.qualified accordingly,etc.
The Inferior court records have be4en copied and are in the the Salisbury
Library in N.C..
In salisbury,N.C.Rowan,Co.is recorded this old deed :
Esquire Henry McCulloh to Jeremiah Greene 541 acres of land. Dated Nov.
27,1761.
Acknowledged by the Hon. Henry Eustace McCulloh,Esq.
Also the Hunts, Smiths, Coxe'e,Greenes,And Bairds were early members of
the old
Jersey Baptist church in Rowan, VCo. N.C.
Thei r names and the names of their children, and some of the children's
children
are mentioned in the old church records, and many of those names are on
the stone
in the old cemetery near Mockville,N.C.for three or four generations.

4 John Greene b. 3 nnNov. 1757 d. 1826. M. 16 Jan. 1779 to, his 1st
cousin,
Hannah Hunt.,dau. of Daniel and Susannah Hunt.
5 Joanna Greene (no Birth date given) m. Landrine Eggers.
Johanna was 21 or over in 1788when she signed the paper below.
There may have been other children.
Joanna Hunt Greene had a brother ,Abraham Hunt b. 1740 ( about the age of
her eldest child) who was commissioned as a postmaster ( 1-10-1764) of
Trenton N.J.
By Benjamin Franklin and John Foxcraft.,Post master general of his
Majesty'sProvinces and dominions in North America.
A deed by Jeremiah Greene Jr. is found indeed book # 12 p. 139 in
Salisbury,N.C.
9 Sept. 1788.
It shows that Jeremiah Greene , a planter,and wife Mary,let the yeoman
Conrad Grub ---all of rowan,Co. N.C.--- have 181 acres o n Abbott's creek
next to george Grub's land lately surveyed,and Hugh McCrary and Barnett
Michael for the sum of 60 pounds.
Signed by Joanna Eggers,Landrine Eggers and Nicholas Mickle.( probably

Hannah md. 2nd.,Andrew Baird b. 28 Jan. 1737,N.J.d.1785. Rowan,Co. N.C.
Andrew is believed to have been a widower with a daughter,Dianna,who
later
m. Able Hunt., and a son of William,Possibly other children/.
Children of Andrew Baird and Hannah ( Greene) Baird were:
1 Hannah Baird b. 15 July 1776( see Moses the Little Cox)
2Andrew Baird Jr. b. 21 Oct.1779 m. Margret 9Elizabety) Smith,daughter of
Frederick Smith and Elizabeth McGee.
Frederick Smith, ( a former German soldier whose name had been before his
naturilization,FrederickSchmidt).
served in the revolutionary war andf was placed on a pension roll nov.
3,1832.
Pension application shows he served at least four tours of three months
each.and served at Wilmington Mash'sFerry,battle of Ramsover Hill, Cape
fear River, Charleston and one tour againstthe Cherokee
Indians-----Private and Captain.
3 Josiah Baird b. 28 Feb. 1782 Rowan, co. N.C. d. after 1860 Smith,Co.
tenn.
M_Mary ____________( thought to be Sutton) b. 10 Sept. 1783 Va.).
4 Jeremiah Baird b. 10 Sept. 1783.
Some time after Andrew Baird sr.'s death in 1785. Hannah Greene Baird m.
a Mr. Tomkins, with whon\m she refused to live. this caused quite a stir
in the old Jersey church,and Sister Tomkins was excluded, for refusing to
subject herself to the church or her husband," by explaining in public
why she refused to live with him.
She evidently, did not divorce him, for her will is signed as " Hannah
Tomkins"
In 1810. Neverthe less,she is burie d beside Andrew baird in the old
Jersey churchyard near Mocksville,N.C.

In the name of god Amen:>
I, Hannah Tomkins of the county of Rowan,Stat of North Carolina, being
weak in body ,But of sound mind and memory,do give and dispose of my
effects in the following manner:
First, I Bequeath to my Daughter Hannah Cox, one bed and furniture,also
all of my wearing apparel,also my riding saddle and five dollars lawful
money of the United States to be raised and levied from my estate.
Also,I give to my daughter Martha reed,five shillings.
also, to my son in law ,able ( Abel) Hunt,five shillings.
I give to my son Andrew Baird ,Five Shillings
Also I give to my son Josiah baird ,Five shillings.
Also I give to my son Jeremy baird ,whom I,like wise constitute,make and
ordain ,the sole executor of this my last will and testament,Allt hat
remains of which I possess by him freely to be possessed and enjoyed ,and
I do hereby utterly disallow,revoke,and disannul,all and every other
former testaments,wills,legacies,bequestsa,or executors
by me in any wise before named,willed and bequeathed,ratifying and
confirming this
and no other to br my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this or day of
June A.D. 1810.

17 Feb.1787. Dianna may have been Hannah's step-daughter---
the daughter of Andrew Baird by a former wife.
