I have been looking for my BAIRD ancestors for some time without much
success. My great grandmother Mattie Louise BAIRD was supposedly entitled to
use the family crest on her stationary. From census and cemetery records, I
believe her father was Isaac D. BAIRD b. Aug 3, 1825 in West Virginia. His
name has also been recorded as A. D. BAIRD. He married Martha WRIGHT from IL
and had children in IA from 1856 to 1862. He then moved to KS and shows up
in the 1865 census.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Peg

Hi everyone,

Back in 1995, I had written to some FHS societies in Ayrshire, Scotland
seeking the origin of my ancestor Edward Beard b. 1716. Didn't have any
luck
but got the following information in response:

James Baird b. 23/10/1715 Ayrshire, Kilmarnock, Father: Mathew Baird,
Mother:
Margaret Adam

James Baird b. 2/1/1716 Ayrshire of Riccarton, Father: Hew Baird, Mother:
Margaret Stewart

William Baird b. 17/7/1714 Ayrshire, Kilmarnock, Father: John Baird, Mother:
Jean Smith

William Baird b. 14/9/1717 Ayrshire, Kilwinning, Father: Thomas Baird,
Mother: Marion Houre

Also from the Troon & District Family History Society in Troon Ayrshire a
member, Mrs. N. S. Wallace gave me some background on her Baird ancestors.

William Baird who married Margaret Gray in 1721 were in Drumgirnan in the
parish of Dailly in Aryshire in the early 1700s. She is a descendant of on
of his three daughters born 1721-1727. She didn't know if William had any
sons. William was almost certainly the son born in 1692 to James Baird also
in Drumgirnan.

Hope this helps. If you would like to contact Mrs. Wallace, I still have
the
address to the Troon History Society.
