I got some papers from the National Archives that ONCE AGAIN do not
pertain to me. One of them happens to be a John Baird that served in
the Civil War, Mark and Kay, but he doesn't appear to be your John.

1) John Baird
Private Illinois 9th Infantry
b. 1838
d. 1910
Eberle, Effingham County, Illinois
Wounded in action at Pittsburg Landing Spril 6, 1862
Unmarried

2) Azariah M. Baird (I'm still not sure whether this one belongs to
me or not)
Company A, 113th Regt., Illinois Volunteer Infantry Captain
Married to Catherine L. (Dennis her first husband from New London) Baird
Married on September 25, 1881
His parents were from Tennesee and he lived in Illinois.
Her parents were Irish
He died in a Veteren's Home in San Francisco on July 3, 1903 and was
burried in Cypress Lawn Cemetary
They had no children together, but she had two daughters by her first
husband, James Dennis
He had lived in Alton, Madison County Illinois
