This is an open letter to John Baird. I am posting it to the list
because I think it is appropriate that we all know what is being said.

John,

Your note was received today in my e-mail. I am also a person who has
no "connection" (yet) with the vast majority of the researchers on this
Baird list. Unlike you, however, I continue to "lurk" (receive mail,
look at it, delete what doesn't apply), and am still waiting for some
information which connects with mine. I do not, however, EXPECT anyone
to help me.

I am sorry that you have not been able to find information about your
family. The lack of response is probably due to the fact that no one
has any information to share with you. While that is regrettable, I am
not sure it is justification to be insulting to the folks on this list.

researchers here are anxious to help, and are generous with any and all
information they might have that applies.

I am sorry if I misunderstood you, but your comments about a "good ol'
boy group" seemed really out of line to me. It seems like comments like
that breed bad feelings, and are completely unnecessary. I am sorry if
you are frustrated, or whatever, in your search. Rest assured that if I
had information which applied to your research, I would have answered
you, as would others, I am sure. Rest assured that after your comments
you will probably receive little or no help. Too bad!
