Hello all,

After reading the messages lately about OLD JOHN's wives and final resting
place, I have a modest proposal.

I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania and have in-laws in Saddle River, right
outside New York City near the OLD JOHN homestead. I will do on-site
research with camera in hand, and send those pictures electronically to
whoever wants them, if the good citizens of this list will tell me how I
connect to OLD JOHN.

The oldest Beard/Baird ancestor I have pegged for certain is WILLIAM BEARD,
b. 1798 in Green County, Kentucky. He married Margaret "Peggy" Brockman in
1824 in Barren County, Kentucky. His other wives were Cloy Faris and Martha
Bullington. His children were Nancy (1825), Andrew (1827), Albert (1828),
John (1833), Lucy (unknown), William (1837) and Alexander (1839).

This WILLIAM BEARD is listed as the eldest son of ANDREW and MOLLY BEARD.
Andrew and Molly's other children are listed (no dates) as Libby, John,
Peggy, Andrew and Alexander.

>From lurking on the Beard and Baird lists for a long time, I'm virtually
convinced that this ANDREW BEARD came from the Jersey Settlement and is
therefore descended from OLD JOHN via the Great Wagon Road.

According to Catchings, whom I know is unreliable, a WILLIAM and an ANDREW
BEARD moved to Barren County from North Carolina, and their brothers Josiah
and Jeremiah went to Tennessee about the same time. Could this be my ANDREW
BEARD?

I can't connect the dots yet. If anyone can help me connect the dots to OLD
JOHN from your pedigree worksheets, I'd be indebted. In addition to taking
pictures of the old homesteads, I'll root through any archive in New Jersey
for OLD JOHN stuff.

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long-winded post.
