Hi All!
Thanks Bev. Any idea if she went to Mo. when Andy did?
FYI Andrew Cox Baird and Martha C. Miller had a son die
of rabies. I remember Grandma Tennie Baird-Blevins tell
me about it. It seems that her brothers went bird hunting
and one of them was put in charge of holding the dog so
he wouldn't flush the birds too soon. While the boy was
squatted down with his arm around the dogs neck the dog
licked him on the forehead. The boy had a scratch on his
head. A few days the dog started to show signs of turning
rabid. By that time it was too late for any home cures.
And it was long before rabies shots. I remember how
upset she would get telling how that boy suffered before
he died. I think that the state took him away before he
died but not before he got sick.
