Thanks for remembering.
It seems there is quite a bit of info. on Alexander Baird and Elizabeth
Jennings but sooo little on his brother John Batte and jenny Jennings,
sister of Elizabeth JENNINGS.
There are quite a few references in Georgia Books(such as "gone to
Georgia") etc. that mention William
and Alexander(brothers,and sons of John Batte)along with Jennet
(Jane)referring them to the Abbeyville Bairds and with the land records
showing where they all purchased land connecting and most from the same
seller.
I think that this william that left Jackson Co. Ga.and had five children
bn. there,moved to Marion, Perry Co. Ala. where he was living next to my
gt. gd. father Samuel who I think is the son of Alexander,brother of
William. Samuel may have gone to Ala. with William when Alexander was
serving at Hogg Mountain
at Fort Jackson 1813-1814.with Thomas Baird(Don't know just where he fits
in)Nor do I know what happened to Alexander after that,He may have gone
on to fight in the battle of New Orleans with General
Jackson and may have got killed.If any of this rings a bell with you or
anyone on the list I would be most
grateful to hear from you.

Hi Fred - I'm sorry I don't have information on John Batte Baird, but I
was interested in your posting that Alexander and John's widow went to
Georgia in 1799. I don't think I had ever heard that! Would you mind
sharing that information with me? I don't know if you remember, but I
descend through James Monroe Baird, son of Alexander and Elizabeth.
