I keep running into Cornelius Baker (I tend to notice the name--there can't
be too many Corneliuses!)--he is in the 1850 Hampshire/Mineral Co. WV
census (posted on the Mineral Co. page
(http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvminera/155B.HTM), as are a lot of other Bakers.
There are many Kidners (note "i" instead of "e") as well.

I myself am looking for a Perrigrine (or Perigrine, or Perrygrine) Baker.
His death is recorded in our old family bible--died Sept. 22, 1847, aged 68
years--together with that of a Deborah Baker who might be his wife--she
died Aug. 27, 1847, aged 66 years. Their daughter (probably--bible doesn't
explain the relationships) was Nancy Baker, my g-g-grandmother, b. May 27,
1802, who married first Charles Wall (the first owner of the bible) in
1830. He died in 1834 and in 1843 she married my gg-grandfather, Jacob
Grenzeback, an immigrant laborer from Germany.

Peregrine Baker is in the Hampshire Co. WV census indexes from 1800 through
1830 (I only have access to what is on the web, unfortunately). Does he
sound like a relative of your Hardy Co. Jacob Baker?

Any clues welcomed!
