I'm writing to ask for help with a huge gap in my family's history.

This gap is with tracing my grandfather, Samuel Paul Baker.

He married my grandmother, Rosa Etta Jacobs probably between 1922-1930- but
we're not sure where. Maybe in Greenup, KY since that's where she was
from. Samuel was born in Ashland, KY on 6/26/1904 accdg to his death
certificate. Samuel's mother was Rosa Belle Triplett and father was Samuel
(Baker?). Rosa Belle's dad was from TX and mother from VA?. We're not sure
of their names- they're listed as unknown on her death cert. Rosa Belle
later married a John Monahan and moved to WV and had a son with him named
Eugene.

Samuel's father is a total mystery to us. We've always heard our
grandfather was illegitimate, but someone did find a KY census record from
1900 that listed a Rosa Bell Baker ( curiously enough) as a servant to the
Ranson Chaffins family. The connection is not really confirmed, but noone
has been able to find records on Rosa Bell's parents or Samuel Sr. We had
always thought that Rosa Bell(my greatgrandmother) never married my
granddad's biological father and heard that he was a traveler, so we're
wondering if this clue about her being a servant to the Chaffins family is
correct- since that would be the only way she took on the Baker name unless
she did it to "save face" somehow.

If I could maybe find a marriage record for Samuel Paul Baker and Rosa Etta
Jacobs in Greenup or elsewhere in KY- it may list/confirm Samuel's father,
etc and his mother's actual name.

Any help you may give is GREATLY appreciated. There are many of us who have
descended from Samuel and Rosa. By the way, Samuel and Rosa later settled
in Logan, WV and had eight kids. My mom was the last of those children. We
have lots of family and we'd like to connect with whoever else may be out
there. Unfortunately both Samuel and Rosa have passed away. Samuel in 1958-
I believe and Rosa recently in 1997.

P.S.
Interestingly enough, I had a dream about a year ago with my grandmother in
it, and she mentioned a name "Glenn Calley" that I've never known or heard
of- I'm not sure what/or if there is a connection there, but if you come
across that name in your lookups- please let me know. It was the strangest
dream. I've had many dreams with her since she passed, but this was the
wildest one.
