Bernadine (et als)
Thanks so much for that information. Years ago I saw GA PASSPORTS by (I
forget the author) when I was searching my Walton line, a couple of whom
got GA Passports when they went West. I do not remember looking for
Bowlings then as I don't think mine were in GA.
However, the PASSPORTS OF SE PIONEERS 1779-1823 is very interesting,
especially the information about Wm BOLLAND, etc. "of Stafford & Fauquier
Cos VA" who returned to VA from KY via New Orleans! I do not know who he
is but I still look at ALL Bowlings (sp)
I must try to find that book and check it for several families of mine.
I ASSUME the Wm BOWLING, J.P. who signed for Mr. Boykin of Burke Co GA was
also from BURKE Co GA???. He (of Burke Co Ga?) signed 1804 for Mr. Wm
Alexander to visit "Settlement on Tom big Bey". John H. ALEXANDER in 1843
had a farm near Yorkville (now Ethelsville, Pickens Co AL). I AM NOT AN
ALEXANDER DESCENDANT, just read lots. The TOMBIGBEE RIVER runs through
Lowndes Co MS and into Pickens Co AL... Just in case anyone is interested.
