I have a Plumb line not yet attached to your line of Robert Plumb (see "The
Plumbs, 1625-1800," by H.B. Plumb, second edition 1893). My line descends
from the immigrant John Plumb of Hartford, son of George and Grace Plumb, who
is possibly son of George, son of John of Terling, Essex and wife Johane.

In "The Plumbs..." your ancestry begins:
1. John Plume and Elizabeth --, of Toppesfield, Essex, England
2. Robert Plume and Elizabeth Purcas, of Great Yeldham, Essex, England
3. Robert Plume and Grace Crackbone, of Great Yeldham, Essex, England
4. John Plumb and Dorothy --, of Wethersfield and Branford CT
5. Robert Plumb and Mary Baldwin (the dates in "Plumbs..." for Robert are: b
30 Dec 1617 in Ridgewell, England, d 12 May 1655 in Milford CT, m 9 Jan 1642
in Milford). Mary was b 19 Feb 1625/6, d 1 Feb 1707/8 in Milford. After
Robert's death, Mary married William East (16 Mar 1676). The following are
children of Robert & Mary Baldwin Plumb:
a. Mary Plumb b Feb 1644/5, d aft 1703, m 16 June 1668 Matthew Woodruff
b. John Plumb b 12 Aug 1646, d Mar 1728, m 24 Nov 1668 Elizabeth Norton
c. Robert Plumb b 21 Dec 1648, d 4 Dec 1703, m abt 1670 Ruth Clark, died
childless
d. Samuel Plumb b 1 Dec 1650
e. Samuel Plumb b 16 Feb 1652/3, d 1691, childless
f. Joseph Plumb b 10 July 1655, d young, childless

Though I don't have more on the descendants of this family, I do have a copy
of this book and can give you more information on the Plumb line if you wish
it. I would be happy to send copies by snail mail.

Interestingly enough, I also have a Matthew Woodruff who married (as her
second husband) Martha Royce, daughter of Isaac Royce and Elizabeth Lathrop,
10 June 1730 in Farmington, Hartford, CT. This was after the death of her
first husband Thomas North Jr. (Thomas and Martha were also my ancestors). I
don't know if he is the same or a related Matthew Woodruff as your husband of
Mary Plumb.

Now if I could only find MY Baldwins... :-)
