Several kind people on this list have tried to help me find my
2nd-great-grandfather, but to no avail. I'll try appealing to the whole
world.

My great-grandfather, John W. Baldwin, was born on 15 Jun 1842 in
Virden, Macoupin, IL. He later married Emily Elizabeth Davidson on 17 Jan
1863. John died 17 Jun 1866. Family opinion says he was not in the Civil
War, but who knows. My grandfather, Samuel Thomas Baldwin, was the only
surviving offspring. Reportedly another son died in infancy.

Does anyone know anything about John's family--his parents, siblings,
grandparents--anything? I'm at a dead end and have been for years. Any and
all help would be most appreciated. Thanks.
