Melissa,
What a great E-mail message. You have really explained in great detail
the Baldwins living in Montgomery County, Indiana area. And thank you
for all the new information on the Elias Baldwin and Mary Crooks family
and Mary's sisters family Amy Crooks and William Baldwin. I have just
a few questions:
1/ Abraham Baldwin listed age 30<40 in 1850 Census of Montgomery
County. I am assuming you believe that is the Abraham Baldwin born
1798 (m) Mary E. Williams, your distant cousin Mary listed. This would
push his date of birth to between 1810-20.
2/ Jack Baldwin of Long Beach, Calif. has listed Absalom C. Baldwin's
marriage to Betsy (Hauk) Piatt, daughter of Benjamin Piatt and Mary
Wordell, rather than Elizabeth Abbott, which maybe understandable
because Absolom's siter Sarah married Philip Hauk. I was wondering if
this Betsy may have married Philip Hauk first before a possible
marriage with Absolom?
I have researched quite exstensively: Frank C. Baldwins work, "The
Baldwins From Virginia Westward", Charles Candee Baldwins Genealogy
Book, and Aubrey H. Baldwins work on Chester and Bucks County, Pa.
descendants. And so far I have not been able to connect your: Joseph,
Elias, William, and Thomas Baldwin to any of these works.
