Pat: What other families are you searching? I have been trying for years to
to tie my Walker County,TX Baldwins with Jane and William D.'s. I was born
and raised, until I was 18, in Huntsville in Walker County. My great
grandfather, Hosea Ballou Baldwin, moved from Neshoba or Leake County in MS
to Walker County in 1849, just about the time Wm D. died. Due to similarity
of names, I feel pretty certain that Wm.D. and Hosea were related. Hosea
and his wife Adaline Angelina Allen and most of their descendants, including
my grandfather William Franklin Baldwin (b 1847 MS) and his wife Elizabeth
Jane Sterne and my father Leonard Bush Baldwin and his wife Maude Williford,
along with many many aunts, uncles and cousins are all buried in Oakwood
Cemetery in Huntsville.
Jane and most of her children, as you know, moved to Limestone County.

Again from similarity of names, I firmly believe my Baldwin family and
William D's were descendants of John Baldwin (b 1619 in England). I would
suspect William D. and his wife Jane were born around 1810. I have spent
many hours trying to track down the descendant line, using the dozens of
pages of the descendant's of John Baldwin on the Internet and C. C.
Baldwins' book and supplement, along with Aubrey Haines Baldwin's update.
Maybe putting this on the RootsWeb list will help us and others.

I believe my last correspondence with you was about ten months ago, but I
follow all your queries. I will contact you if I learn anything new. Maybe
some of the other names we are researching will help us make connections.
Some of my other names are:
Sterne, Kirby, Kelly, Withrow, Knapp, Coffin, Allen, Keeland, Laing, Jones,
Williford,
Montgomery, Dominey and many others. Some Baldwin first names are: William
(b CT~1790)
Daniel(b CT~1782), Mary (Polly) (b prob Catskill NY~1774), Hosea Ballou ( b
1819 OH), William Franklin (b 1847 MS), Leonard Bush (b 1895 Walker Co.)
