Dorothy:

I am also a descendent of Richmond County, NC Baldwins. I was very fortunate
that several people in Richmond County helped me out to discover a lot of
information. The Richmond County Baldwins were started by Levi Baldwin
(b1740-d1797) and his wife Rachel moving to that part of NC from (my memory
is failing me here) Conneticut or New Jersey.

A lady of DAR did a wonderful research paper on this group in the 1970s, I
think her name was Mary Virigina Horne(?). Many of the original land grants
of these Baldwins still reside in the NC state archives in Raleigh.

Anyways, Levi and Rachel's children got bonded out in Richmond County in
about the 1780's but went on to become very wealthy to only be wiped out by
the civil war.

As far as your direct branch of this tree. I see only one Osbourne Baldwin
in that family and time frame. His birth is estimated in 1800. Osbourne's
parents were Moses (b1778-d1815) and Leah Jowers (b1780-d1824). Moses was
the son of Levi and Rachel and would have therefore been bonded out.
Osbourne's brothers and sisters were Stephen (b1797), Jesse (b1801), Ervin or
Urba (b1805), Nathan (b1806), Elizabeth (b1806), Sarah, and Dizey. I do not
have any information on Osbourne's wife or children.

Let me know if you think this fits.
