We know very little about James. His son lists his father as being born in NJ, but I suspect he was part of the clan from New Castle Delaware about 20 miles away. He first appears as a taxpayer in 1806 in Fairfield County, Ohio. He has a child David 1807, Isaac 1812, Susanna, 1816. Wife is Rebecca. I suspect she was a McCabe as David is David M. and David names his first child middle name McCabe. He then bought more property in Lancaster, Fairfield in 1810. I can find no record of his marriage, or death. His will was probated in 1829. Rebecca remarries in 1829. I think he died a couple of years before, probate came only when they wanted to see the land. By 1834 they all moved to Hancock County, Ohio. I feel certain he fits with the William from Berkeley, who's sons also went to Hancock County. He is not William's son James R. who died in Hancock County in 1834. I don't believe he's in the CC Baldwin book or maybe I didn't have enough info the last time I looked. Our historic!
al society library in Madison doesn't have the other Baldwin Westward book Thanks for any help.
