I need a little help.
My great grandmother Eliza (Constantine) Kelly lived in Roland Park, and
died there July 1, 1918. I am trying to determine what church she and her
family attended. I have a 15-year-old letter from my deceased aunt that
states "great grandmother had a baptismal fount in the Roland Park Church".
My aunt was the wife of a Methodist minister, but not in Roland Park. She
did not give the denomination of the church. I also have an obituary for one
of Eliza's daughters who died in 1923. It states that services will be at
the Roland Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church, Roland avenue at fortieth
street.
Today there are two churches on that corner. One is St. Mary's Episcopal
Church and the other is the Roland Avenue Methodist Church. Also behind St.
Mary's is the Good Sheppard Methodist Church. I keep going around in circles
searching with google for histories of these churches. Possibly in the early
part of the 20th century there was only one church, and it was shared by
both religions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just discovered, last week, that I have access to Heritage Quest. I was
somewhat over whelmed by all the Baltimore "hits". I am in the middle of
trying to effectively use the publications and books. Maybe there are a few
historical church sketches that will help with the above research. Any
guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks
