Thanks all!
Does anyone see a manufacturer's name on their deck? It's the norm for US
decks to have the manufacturer's name displayed prominately on the face of the
Ace of Spades. Is it common in other countries NOT to have the manufacturer's
name on the deck? Also, these individual cards are THICK. US cards are thin
& plasticized nowadays. Were "old time" cards thick? I'm curious about this
to try to arrive at some valid assumption as to whether this is my ONLY
artifact from the Banat. The differences that I see in it lead me to believe
that it is of foreign manufacture. A deck of cards would help to pass time on
the boat ride (circa 1910). Can you play Solitare with it?
Perhaps more of interest to the group as a whole, how were the cards
ranked in value and what were their names? I remember my grandmother
"translating" them as Acorns and Hearts but I don't remember what the others
were named. What were the rules? Any ideas?
Thanks again!
Ed.
