Hello John,

I have the same problem that you have, no one seem to have much information
about this area. My Grandfather and Grandmother lived West of Paks at
Kiskoros where my grandfather was born and lived till he came to America in
1907 at the age of 25. The distance between the towns is about 40 miles.
I will keep trying and hope some day we will find some of our answers.

good luck,

Ron

Subject: [BANAT-L] Paks , Hungary

Group --- I have been trying to contact
someone from Paks for over a year now
with very little success. Anyone . All I
want is to find out something about the
village since my dad came from there and
since I was too young at the time he told
me things about the area. I'm very envious
of the people who ask for information on
some obscure town and they are flooded
with the smallest details of the place.
All I know is that it is about 60 miles
south of Budapest on the Danube. My
father told me of walking to the fields
at the edge of town every day to work.
Do you suppose those fields are still
being farmed as they were when he left
there in 1908 ? Where would he have gone to school and when would he go
if
he was working every day? He was 16 when he left there. Is the school
still there?
These questions can only be answered by
someone with intimate knowledge of the
village. I thought I'd take a long shot and
see if I might be lucky.

Thanks for reading this.

John.
