Hi all,
Old time member here but have never asked for a look up in Sadler
Book, it would be greatly appreciated. The name is MAUTHNER, Josef.
The only info that I have is that he was probably born in Batina (now
Kiskoszeg), Baranya, Hungary. I know that he moved to Apatin and was
married there in 1846. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I'm
stuck again, here. :) Have all the info from Apatin, as I have the
books from there and if I can help anyone with lookups from there
please let me know.
In looking up Josef, if there is any info on anyone with the Mauthner
that went to Batina, I'd appreciate that info. As an aside, I just
had verified what a young university student told me a few years ago,
the name Mauthner in old german means toll collector. Found that
interesting, don't know where or what kind of tolls they collected.
