A while back, when discussing the 1828 Census the term Joch came up. This
is what I saved....
Joch............Yoke, Jake / area which a yoke of oxen could
plough in one workday
Jochacker.......Austrian word = 1.44 U.S. acres

I have been fortunate to obtain a copy of the 150 Jahrigen Jubelfeier for
the period 1787 to 1837 written by Father Alexander Kummergruber on Oct. 20,
1937.
The translation quotes "Hotter" as a land measure. A "Joch" is a fraction of
a Hotter. Land for a house was measured in "Klafter".
Immigrants were offered a "Session" of land.
Do these terms relate to Hectare or Acre. Are there any comparable
measurements.
Please help.
