There is a town named Jamu Mare (Romanian) that may be the one your family
came from. Mare means large in Romanian just as gross does in German so
Grossscham could very well be Jamu Mare. It is 76 km. south of Timisoara
(Temeschburg). On a modern road atlas one would drive south on Highway E70
to Moravita (63 km.), then drive east 13 km. to Jamu Mare.

The town is about 5 km. from the Yugoslav border. Sorry I can't help you
with your other questions.
