Just a reminder that at this time of early spring your DANUBE SWABIAN ancestors were all out there to collect from the fields, laneways and gardens the first wild dandelion shoots to make a most delicious dandelion salad.

Cut each dandelion almost at the top of the root, clean immediately of any dead or damaged leaves and soil and wash throughout, changing water at least three times. For an excellent crackdown on all those accumulations of winter fat in your blood system nothing beats to eat a large bowl of salad daily for one to two weeks, prepared with oil, vinegar and salt. Dandelions are full of iron, just the right stuff to renew your vigor.

Once the dandelion is in bloom, it is no longer as delicious and it is best to wait for another season. For all of you down in Texas and California, our dandelions here in Ontario are not out yet. You are welcome to visit us.
