i All:
Got this off another List. Can anyone on here (maybe Carsten or someone in
Germany) add
to this?

Chops
Jagst is a river north-east of Stuttgart, no county or area. The river Jagst
flows to the Neckar and the Neckar to the Rhein. The appendix "Jagst" is
only for a better discribtion of Ellwangen (at the Jagst).

60 miles south of Jagst

I received information that some family members moved/worked in
Ellwangen, Jagst. (Sometimes written as Ellwangen (Jagst)).

What is Jagst?
On the map it looks like Ellwangen is in what I think of as
Wuerttemberg. Is Jagst like a county within Wuerttemberg or does it mean
something completely different?
I also found on the internet some listings for Ellwangen (Hunt).
What is the difference between Ellwangen (Jagst) and Ellwangen (Hunt)?

Richard:

Jagst is an area of Wuerttemberg along its border with Bavaria, east of
Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart. It may or may not currently be a distinct "county"
within Wue. It may have been such historically. "Hunt" is the Englisher
version of Jagst.
