I posted this information in a different fashion a few weeks ago. I think this may be better to understand than just listing surnames as I did before. I realize that Austria-Hungary was not a "real'" nation at the time of some individauls births, but that was the information I was given. So, I guess my question is: Would it be correct to drop the "Austria" and just label origin as say Blumenthal, Banat, Hungary?
I greatly appreciate all the help everyone has provided me since I signed up and I have enjoyed meeting new relatives online from this site.


My 4x great-grandparents were: Nikolaus STENGEL(b. 1779) m. Margaretha (b. 1780)

My 3x great-grandparents were: Johann MARTIN (b. 1825) & Franz/Frank STENGEL (b. 1802, Blumenthal, Banat, Austria-Hungary) m. Anna SCHUCH (b. 1805).

My 2x great-grandparents were: Johann JORDAN (b. 1848) m. Katharina SAILE (b. 1855) & John WEHNER I (Kathreinfeld, Banat, Austria-Hungary) m. Katherine WAHEL (b. 1848, Dorendol, Hungary) & Johann SIMON III (b. 1853, Barvaria, Germany) m. Margaret MARTIN (b. 1861) & Heinrich STENGEL (b. 1830, Blumenthal, Banat, Austria-Hungary) m. Katharina BRGL (b. 1843, Traunau, Hungary)

My great-grandparents were: Anna JORDAN (b. 1876, Blumenthal, Banat, Austria-Hungary) m. Peter WEHNER (b. 1875, Kathreinfeld, Banat, Austria-Hungary) & John/Johann SIMON (b. 1881, Blumenthal, Banat, Austria-Hungary) m. Anna STENGEL (b. 1881, Blumenthal, Banat, Austria-Hungary).

My grandparents were:Frank WEHNER (b. 1913, Lefor, ND) m. Catherine SIMON (b. 1918, New England, ND).

My dad is Arvin WEHNER (b. 1943, New England, ND). My dad is the fraternal twin to Fr. Ed, who lives in Bismarck.


Going backwards: They settled in North Dakota, emigrated from Banat, and before that it seems they migrated all over the place, including Hungary, Romania, & Germany.
