Barbara appears on the manifest of the Kronprinz Wilhelm, but there is no
Margaret on the ship (Oct. 26, 1906). There are two other Sziller girls
from Kis Orosz listed on the manifest, Ilouka (or Ilonka) and Katharina,
both are bound for Detroit.

I cannot find your Carl, but an older Karl, wife Margaret and daughter
Katherina came to the US from Kis Orosz aboard the Kaiser Wilhelm der
Grosse on Jan. 26, 1909 all bound for Detroit. They were bound for a
son-in-law, Jos. Marzon, 266 Rivard Ave. Mich.

Unless Sziller is a very common surname in Kis Orosz, these may be kin to
your Szillers. At least it might be worth tracking descendents down to swap
stories.

You can see the manifests yourself:

> Greetings - After several failed attempts at finding information on a
family from Banat, I came across your web site. I followed your e-mails of
the past week, and believe that this is probably my best bet.

Sziller, b. March 02, 1890 Kisorosz, Torontal, Banat. Her father was Joseph
Sziller and mother was Margaret Kutscara. Her siblings were as follows:
>
> Carl Sziller b. June 09, 1887
> Joseph Sziller
> Margaret Sziller
> Peter Sziller

> The stories remembered most about Barbara are that she came to the United
States with her sister Margaret, on the ship Kronprinz Wilhelm, departing
Bremen, Germany on October 16, 1906. They only had one silver dollar
between the two of them. This was enough for only one to enter, so when
the
one came through, she passed the coin back to the other. The two girls
went
to Cincinnati, then Barbara went on to Cleveland. Her brother Carl also
came
to America and ended up in Detroit, MI. Margaret eventually ended up in the
Detroit area, as well.

> Barbara married in Cleveland, Johann Georg Schmidt, born June 07, 1890 in
Kischker, Batschka. Her parents were opposed to her marrying Johann because
she was Catholic and he was Lutheran.

"Banater Hall" in Cleveland.

Alsac, and continue to communicate with Schmidt cousins in Karlsruhe, where
they moved after the war. We have not had the same luck with the Szillers.
