Hello Donauschwaben!

My copy of the book "Children of the Danube" by Henry Fischer just arrived. Even though I read the manuscript before, the published version is much expanded.

Our Landsmann Henry leads us wonderfully in a barge down the Danube and deposits us right smack in a wilderness to be made a home. Reading it, you have the feeling you are on that barge alongside your ancestors.

Henry himself took the Danube voyage a year or two ago and no wonder his description are so vivid. He also had access to different archival collections, like the Lutheran church, which you and I do not. (Henry is a Lutheran Pastor, as was a long line of his ancestors.)

Finally, "OUR" story has been told and I warmly recommend reading it, especially for those Danube Swabians whose ancestors settled in the Swabian Turkey.
