Hi,

I have been going through pictures of my ancestors gravestones in Uihel
(Neusiedel auf der Heide) and noticed my great great grandmother's
gravestone says ashes on it. I'm curious to know why this would be as I
didn't think cremation was done in 1875. Would it have been an epidemic at
that time and people who had died were cremated. I understand there are a
few other gravestones in Uihel that state ashes.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks.
