Thank you Dave and Delores for the update and for the reminder about why
this group is important to us.
In the past, I have considered joining the AKdFF myself, but you have to
admit it is a pretty hefty membership fee -- especially if one belongs to
multiple societies. I had no idea that an English translation of the
Forschungsblätter was available, which makes the prospect of joining much
more attractive (this info does not appear on their website under "Benefits
of Membership"). Does the North American subscriber receive only the
English version, or both?
Also, could one of you please describe what is listed on their site as
"Forscherkontakte" and tell us what "tiny tafel format may be?
Additionally, the website states the member will receive "support for
indexing proejcts on parish books and writing of Ortsfamilienbücher." Can
you tell how these resources are indexed and how the "indexing projects" are
made available?
I'd love to join this Society now that I know about the translation of the
quarterly publication. Perhaps this might encourage other English-only
speakers to join as well to support the good works of the AKdFF.
Best regards,
Nancy Fredenberg
