Earl S. Barnard Dies in Hospital - Developer of Local Subdivision

Earl S. Barnard, 82, developer of Barnard Heights subdivision, died
of pneumonia about 7 o'clock this morning. He had been confined to
St. Joseph's Mercy Hosptial for the past 10 days.

Mr. Barnard had been in the real estate business from 1925 until he
retired in 1946.

He came here from Mt. Pleasant where he dealt in real estate, worked
as a cattle broker and operated a farm.

Born at Leslie
Mr. Barnard was born May 19, 1869, at Leslie, and was married in
1907 to the former Mrs. Minnie McDowell in Lansing. She also had
been a resident of Mt. Pleasant.

Mrs. Barnard died on April 17, 1948, at the age of 77.

Barnard was a life member of the Oddfellows and a former member of
the Ann Arbor Board of Realtors.

He is survived by five sons, Arthur Barnard of Mt. Pleasant, and
Frank, Lynn, Ervin, and Ray Barnard all of Ann Arbor.

mother of 5 of his children (4 sons, 1 dau). Ervin was the son of Earl and
Rhoda SLEIGHT. Earl's son, Ray, married Ethel McDowell, in 1918, the dau of
Minnie McDowell Barnard.
