This mystery concerns Harvey Lee BARTON born Dec 1836 in Floyd Co, Va who
married on 10-9-1859 Jane Martha Settle(s) born 1842 in Bedford Co, Va. The
actual marraige license has written in beside the grooms age "He is said to be
illegitimate". On this certificate his father and mother are listed as William
BARTON and Frances BARTON.

There is a will dated Jan 25, 1854 in Bedford Co, Va will book #17, page 41,
written by David BARTON, Sr. that states......."to my son William BARTON and
to his wife Francis Jane and her bodily heirs, including Harvey, her oldest
son by the said William BARTON and Francis Jane, his wife".......

Both these documents contradict each other.

The mystery: Was Harvey Lee BARTON illegitimate?
