Subject: [BARTON-L] Roll Call & Query
Date: Thu, 7 Oct 1999 06:02:30 EDT

This message is in response to the roll call request. I have been a member
of this group for some time, and regularly read the messages that are posted
in the hope of finding some connection to my Barton line that I can trace
through the South back to South Carolina, and then I lose them. I am
interested tracing my line at least back to the port of entry in America.

Yesterday a query was posted by Emily Bearden Sears that concerned her
ancestor Mary Catherine Barton from Jefferson County, Alabama. My ancestors
Isaac Barton and Nancy Snow were married in then Blount County, now Jefferson
County, Alabama in 1819. Years ago I secured a copy of their marriage record
from the records in Jefferson County. The parents of Isaac were John and
Mary Barton. John died in Alabama about 1820, and Mary died in Yalabusha
County, Mississippi after 1850.

I have no clues about the female children of my John and Mary Barton.
However, Mary Catherine Barton was at the right time and location to be a
part of my Barton line. Census records give some good clues about their male
children. I plan to follow-up with Emily Bearden Sears to try to determine
if we can help each other.

Any clues to help me trace my Barton line back to the port of entry would be
appreciated.
