I collect old photos and a friend of mine recently sent me photos that she found in an antique store in Fairfield Iowa. One was of a lady named Mrs. J. Sam Barton (the name on back of the photo). The photo is a portrait taken by J.J. Riley, Photographer Shelbina Missouri.Judging from her dress, the photo could have been taken during the middle to late 1800's and possibly earlier. She is a very beautiful woman maybe in her twenties or early thirties with curly hair. She appears to be from a well-to-do family since she is well groomed and well dressed. She wears a high neck dress with puffed sleeves and what looks like a satin bow at the neck. She is also wearing a pearl choker with an attached locket.
If this could be a relative of yours please let me know and I'll send you a copy of the photo.
