Looking for any information on a Alice Barton. She was born (according to tombstone 1858) in Mississippi (according to census records). She owned property in the Becker Community of Kaufman County, Texas in 1892, 56 acres as listed on the Texas State Gazetteer Farmers and Land Owners. She had a son named Oscar Barton born 1886/1887 (according to census records).
She married a William M Couch 4-24-1985 in Kaufman County Texas. They had 2 children and then she died in 1901.
There is a HUGE problem with her last name.
There is a record in Kaufman County that a Alice Barton married a A.H. Barton (her cousin, I was told) and there is a 47 year old "delayed birth record" on my grandfather stating his mothers maiden name was Cox. But when the birth record was written, both Alice and her husband, William were dead, so information not direct source related.
Any information would be appreciated to get this straightened out.
