Dan, let me try to answer.

First, I agree that SC44-7,8 & 12 are closely related, with exactly the same
mutation, which to date, no one else in MH1 shares. They are also part of
MH1, which says that Henry, and Thomas m Sarah Wilson, and David m Ruth
Oldham, among others, share a common ancestor. If this unique mutation
continues for the Henry line as we get more data points, then this DNA set
could be fairly described as the Henry, b 1793 Modal Haplotype.

Page 3 shows both ancestors and participants (unfortunately with confusingly
similiar numbers) The cladograms show only participants, no ancestors. It
appears to me that you have mixed the two number sets in your last question.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more. I hope you guys in the
Henry line can now find an ancestor. Your chief researcher, Ruth Barton
Coleman, has been a very special person for all Southern Bartons. (In fact,
as a token of our respect for her research, Barton Historical Society named
her "Chief of the Clan" at last year's reunion. We are hoping to seee her
this year at the reunion.)

Terry,

Thanks for all the work you've done on this project. I have an initial
question based on glancing over the report. I don't quite understand it
all, so my interpretation may be way off.

My question is: Do the DNA results confirm or disprove relationships shown
on the supplied genealogical charts?

For instance...the Genealogical Chart on Page 2 shows 44.7, 44.8 and 44.12
as descendants of #12 Henry Barton b.1793 (my ancestor). The Cladagram for
Haplotype 1 shows these 3 grouped together, one level off the Haplotype. I
assume this indicates that they are closely related, compared to everyone
else, and all descended from a common ancestor who is somehow related to
everyone else connected with Haplotype 1. In this case, the DNA data seems
to confirm the genealogical chart.

However, when you look at the descendant chart for #23, on Page 3, its shows
that his sons are #24, #25 and #26. But the combined cladagram on Page 11
shows that #23 and #24 are on different branches of Haplotype 1, and at
different levels from the haplotype, while #25 and #26 are on different
branches of Haplotype 2, and at different levels from the haplotype.
According to this cladagram, can these four be anywhere as closely related
as father and sons?

Thanks,

Dan Pierce
