The information comes from the New England Historic Genealogical Society Register, Volume 50, January 1896, pages 116-117 in an article entitled, "Genealogical Gleanings in England." The origin for me locating this information was in The Kite Family History, written by Merle Kite Dorius, 1986 where on page 13 of her English gleanings, she states that a John Barton married Elizabeth Keyt/Kite and immigrated to the Colonies with his will being proven in Essex County, Massachusetts on the 23 of October 1647. He had issue of a Dr. John Barton who practiced "chyrugery" and "physic" but was an apothecary by profession. There is a WEALTH of data on the Barton lineage, especially Roger Barton of Westchester County, New York, probably over 30 pages on his lineage and descendants as well as more information on John Barton and his son Dr. John Barton. All of this can be found on the New England Historic Genealogical Society website at www.newenglandancestors.com but in order to ac!
cess the Registers you have to be a member. I am trying to make a connection of the Kite/Kyte family immigrating from England to the United States and this appears to be the first tangilble information I have found. I appreciate your offer, but I have more than I can handle right now on trying to get my biographical history written on the Mormon Influence in Hancock County, Illinois and Lee County, Iowa relating to my ancestors which I hope to publish in the summer of 2003. This is why I am delving into the Barton line as it is just one of many avenues I am pursuing.
