I am trying to verify the correct name for the father of Elliott Monroe Barton. Several sources have his name listed as J. Benjamin Barton while others list Benjamin Franklin Barton. He was born in 1797 in the Old Pendleton Districe, now Spartanburg Co., SC, married Zilpha Baker in 1819 and was killed during the Regulator-Moderator War at Marshall, TX on Oct. 8, 1843. We have been unable to locate the marker for his grave although we have located the piece of land where he is buried. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
