Donna, I think we may have had a similiar exchange before. I'm sorry, but I
don't have any useful info for you. With the name & location, it surely
sounds like it should be a relative of mine, but I don't see where.

You might go through all the Josephs in Gary's data base and see if there
are some that you can't eliminate. (by the way, Gary has her listed as Mary
Mildred Adams May and doesn't list the two sons) I would suggest that you
send to Gary all that you have so that he can put it in his data base, as it
may someday help you.

Do you have a male in your family who can represent your line in the DNA
project?

We can list

Joseph T., b c1824, Greenville area SC, m Mary Mildred Adams (May?)

with you as Line Leader in the "Still to be Classified" portion of the
Family History page.

Terry

Terry
I have Joseph T. Barton who m. Mary Mildred Adams in 1850 in Elbert Co., Ga.
He was from SC (was b. 1824 in Greenville area). He was 26 and she 16 at
the time of their marriage which suggests to me that he may have had a
previous marriage???? They settled in Rockingham Dist. of NC after their
marriage and were enumerated in the Census of 1850 in NC. They were there
over 10 years and had several children. Their oldest two sons were Thomas
Barton and William P. Barton. They later went to Desoto Co., Mississippi
and from there we find her and the two sons who were married by then in Ark.
Golden Lake area which is on the Mississippi river and the sons and mother
(Mary Mildred) were joint owners and operators of several businesses. Can
find no trace of what happened to Joseph T. Barton (the father)--don't know
if he died in Mississippi or went on to Ark. with the family and died there.
Would love to know who his parents were, if he had a wife before Mary
Mildred Adams, if he had any child(ren) before the family with M.M., etc.
Any help would be so useful. Thanks.
Donna Casey
