The Barton Historical Society offers help to all seeking information on their Barton ancestors. The official website is www.bartonsite.org. A new registration form has been posted on the site. Associate membership is free. Regular membership is now $20 a year to receive the Newletter and support the Society in its endeavors.

The Barton Database is available at www.bartondatabase.info and often is a good first step in your research. This is compiled genealogy and is to be used as an aid in research and not as a source of documentation. We welcome submissions to the Database.

When submitting information to the Database consideration should be given to whether the stated "facts" are supported by contemporary sources (documents created at or near the time of the event), secondary sources, hearsay, or a guess and clearly indicated as such.

We are also looking for people who are willing to assist with various projects such as census indexing and linking to the Database, gathering a who's who of Bartons, African-american Barton family history, and various migration projects. Various tools will shortly become available on the website for the use those willing to volunteer their efforts.
