Looking for information on BARTON and MANN:
William and Margaret BARTON had a son Joseph BARTON born 1769. Location is not known, but it is likely they lived in or near Lancaster County, PA. Joseph married, before 1795, Rebecca/Rebekah ANDERSON and in 1800 they left Lancaster with their children to settle in Washington County, PA. About the fall of 1801, Margaret died of consumption and sometime after, Joseph remarried Nancy MCCOMB; he died around 1818 or before.
Joseph BARTON and Rebecca ANDERSON had four daughters:
1. Margaret BARTON born 9-7-1795 died 8-16-1876
2. Esther (Hetty) BARTON born about 1797 died 1839
3. Eliza Jane BARTON born about 1800 died 2-19-1815
4. Anna BARTON born about August 1801 died 3-6-1820
Sometime after the death of their mother, Margaret, Eliza and Anna went back to Lancaster County to live with their maternal grandmother. These three daughters never married and are all buried at Donegal Presbyterian Church in Lancaster County. Daughter Esther (Hetty) BARTON remained in Washington County with her maternal uncle, Robert ANDERSON. In 1825, Robert ANDERSON and family left Washington County, settling in Allegheny County, PA.
Esther (Hetty) BARTON married James MANN, the date of the marriage is not known, it is also not known if they were married in Washington or Allegheny County or if they had any children.
I have much to share on the ANDERSON side, am looking for information on BARTON and MANN. Please respond direct to as I am not a list member.
