Hi:

I appreciate your willingness to look up our Rev. War ancestors. If you
would look up my Fortunatus Bassett who enlisted at Martha's Vineyard. I
have been trying to research him because what I have found is that he was
AWOL on his last enlistment when he was a Lt. Actually, he was on the
brig General Arnold, a provateer, that left Boston and was lost off
Plymouth during a violent winter storm. He was one of 70 personell that
froze to death, which explains why he was AWOL. He and the other
fatalities were buried in the Plymouth cemetary, but apparently there is
no headstone to mark the grave. Actually, the frozen bodies had to be
placed in a stream to thaw them out so they could be buried. Not a very
nice story, but war stories are frequently not very nice. I would love
to find a list of the individuals that were lost in that event.

Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.

Dick Myhre
