The following presents summary of Bates Family DNA Project, which is
sponsored by
both the "Bates Family of Old Virginia," and the "Bates Association."

If you've hit a brickwall in your Bates Research, perhaps you should undergo
the Bates
DNA test (cheek swab). We have a good mix of donors who descend from
immigrants
of New England and immigrant to Virginia; plus others who have a good paper
trail back
to their Bates ancestor.

This is a "Y-chromosome" test limited to male Bates from unbroken line of
male Bates.
The DNA is handed down from father to son. The fee is $103. for the 12
Marker Test,
which shows "MRCA" (Most Recent Common Ancestor) back 14.4 generations.

Perhaps your DNA would match DNA of donor who has good paper trail back to
the immigrant Bates. If interested, let me know and I will arrange to send you
the Bates
Test Kit. DNA test results take about 6 weeks.
