Winfield S. Beaman
NORFOLK, VA -- Winfield Scott ``Mac'' Beaman, 79, of the 1700 block of While
Lane, passed away in his residence Jan. 8, 2000, surrounded by his loving
family and friends.
Born in South Hill, Va., Mr. Beaman was a retired businessman and was the
widower of Margaret Anne Sawyer Beaman. He was a lifelong member of
McKendree United Methodist Church, the historian for more than 30 years and
was a member of United Methodist Men. He also was a former member of the
Lions Club.
A devoted father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by two sons,
Winfield Scott Beaman Jr. of Harker Heights, Texas, and Paul H. Beaman and
his wife, Theresa, of Norfolk; a brother, Thomas G. ``Boots'' Beaman of
Salem, Va.; four sisters, Elizabeth Saunders and Ellen Beaman, both of
Norfolk, Sarah Lee White of Ennis, Texas, and Jessie Fischer of Chesapeake;
four loving grandchildren, Jennifer R. Beaman, Anne-Marie F. Beaman,
Winfield Scott Beaman III and Paul Joseph H. Beaman.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McKendree United Methodist
Church by the Rev. Bruce Carper. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery,
Norfolk.
Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Smith and Williams
Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
memorial contributions be made to the McKendree United Methodist Church
building fund.
