I don't have anything for you on your own research. Just wanted to say that
most of the researchers on the list would be over the moon if they could
connect their research in this country well enough to take it back to England,
or Scotland, or Ulster.
We had so much distance and so much movement into frontier areas with no early
government or records, even unto the period after the American Civil War,
that it's difficult to pull our data together. Probably why genealogy is such
a strong interest for so many people in this country; trying to figure out who
we are.
My own Beard line came into the Massachusetts Bay Colony in the mid-1600s and
I'm working away, trying to find the correct ancestor. There is a tradition
in my line from the 19th century that the original Beard/Baird in this line
came from Scotland.
