Hello Lou Ellen, my GGgrandfather was Welcome Beard (also spelled Biard). And
there were many children. The info that I have shows your Francis married Thomas
Morrison August 23, 1799 in Blount County, TN. I'll get you what information I
have on the family and also provide you with other relatives that I have found
-- all in the last few weeks via the internet. Much of the info provided me
comes from a book entitled The Biard Family by Maud Biard Smith, printed in
1928. FYI, according to the book, Welcome was the 3rd son of George and Martha
Biard and, on his way to Texas, his wagon broke down at Oxford MS and he made
his home there. I have found Welcome and his wife Jane and their children --
plus his brother Richard's family (lived next door) in the 1850 Pontotoc Co. MS
census. Another sister and brother, George and Jane (she married a cousin,
Pleasant Beard), settled in Itawamba CO, MS. -- the adjacent county. I have
ordered a copy of the book I mentioned above and as soon as it comes, I'll see
what there is on Frances. Great to find you! Regards, Lois Clifton (Colorado).
