It can happen that parents give only an Initial Name for the first and
middle name. My father's name is initials only. His was H A Beard! Now
allot of people had fun with those initials as one can imagine. But, he
was very good natured about the different names he was called. When he
went to sign up for the Army the recruiter told him to pick a name that
he would like to be called otherwise he would be called Only because
when writing his name they had to put H A (only) Beard. He chose Jack
because of an uncle and the nickname stuck until his death.
