Hi Jerry,

We have corresponded in the past. This is Christina from Creswell.

I believe you when you say that there are people with more digits than the
normal five. I've read about them in some books I have read over the years,
but I couldn't tell you now what the books were. Nobody is perfect so nobody
should make fun of someone that has six toes or finger's for that matter. I
believe it would be better to have six fingers than no fingers at all like
some people are born, even no arms or legs. I don't think they are made fun
of or felt sorry for.

I heard lately that there are several families living in and around Medford
by the name of Beard. When I was raised down there and lived there for many
years I never heard of any Beard's other than our only family. If you know
of any of these would you send me their address? Who knows they could be
some distant cousins of mine and I don't even know it. I would like to
correspond with some of them to find out just where they are from and who
there ancestors are. I've been keeping a list of all of the Beard's that I
run across on the e-mail to see if I can cross reference any of them
together. I have the surname of a lot of my dad's uncles, etc., but can't
find any links from there. I did however, find the names of my
GGrandparents. They are William Harrison Beard born in Illinois and married
to Mary Ann Elizabeth Smith from Pennsylvania. I have the names of their
children and names of some of the spouses but I have no idea when any of them
were born except for my grandfather Beard and his children. My father being
one of them, Percy Jean Beard, b. 21 Sept. 1902 at Manitou, CO.

My grandfathers name was John W. Beard, b.24 May 1862 in MO d.11 April,
1925, buried in the Divide Creek Cemetery in Divide Creek, CO. Wife, Laura
Evelyna Williams, b.4 April, 1877 in MO. d. 5 March, 1928, Grants Pass, OR,
buried at the Granit Hill Cemetery at Grants Pass, OR.

I read an artical on the internet this week about the originol name being
Beard and not Barid or Bard or some other spelling. Some families did change
from Beard to Baird, but most of the mixup came from different dilects that
people spoke because of the of the nationality they were. I don't know if
there is any way this could be proven or not. Its understandable how one
person can misspell another persons name, that is why I always try to spell
out my whole name.

It's good to see mail from you on the net quite often. I seldom write
because a lot of things I have thought about saying were alread written by
somebody else. Besides that I get so busy with volunteering with passing out
free food at our greenhouse here in Creswell and doing whateve I am able to
do here at home I don't always have much time to sit at the computer. Even
when I do I usually go to sleep because I get up at 4:25 each morning to
make my sons lunch and make sure he gets off to work because he sometimes
turns his alarm off and goes back to sleep. Granted he is 43, but he works
hard at his paying job in Spfd., but then he comes home and works in the
wrecking yard or has a vehicle to work on. My Bronco has been down for 6
months so I have to have someone from town to come pick me up on the days I
work at the giveaway and then bring me back home. Luckily it is only 2 1/2
miles. I work every Mon. and Fri. morning and the second and fourth Thurs.
when we get a truck load in from the food bank in Eugene. We also have a
pantry here in town where people can go once a month to get USDA foods plus
canned goods and a lot of other foods. Our greenhouse gets our supplies from
our local market, Ray's and whatever vegetables and eggs that people donate
to us.

I'd better get back to reading my e-mail so will likely write again sometime
if you don't mind.

Christina Woodworth
