Subject: [BEL-R] Roll Call - Belgian Emigrants
Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 12:21:33 +0200

Hi,

A Roll Call is launched for the BELGIAN EMIGRANTS. You can find the posting
instructions on this message. They are nearly the same as published on the
site, but I've deleted obsolete info and commented some items.

The target is that the subscribers of this list (and later the visitors of
our site) are informed about who is researching what about the individuals
who did emigrate from Belgium to an other country of destination.

These data will be available on this list, through the archives of this
list, and later through the following section of our site:
http://belgium.rootsweb.com/migr/fam/rollcall.html

As subject must be used:
"Roll Call - Belgian Emigrants researched by [real name of the subscriber]"

Example for me:
"Roll Call - Belgian Emigrants researched by Luc Matthijs"

The Roll Call remains open for the rest of the year. If you want to update
your data, then repost, but mention in the subject: " - update". I will
replace the data on your first message, with those of the second.

===

The following instructions are at this moment present on the site:
>Belgian Emigrant Roll Call
>List of individuals who emigrated from Belgium,
>..... and are being researched by subscribers of BELGIUM-ROOTS .....

TWO conditions:
- the individual mentioned is an emigrant from Belgium and immigrant to an
other country.
- the Roll Call is posted on the list by the submitter listed
(although he can use one of his other email addresses)

So NO Roll Call about the Belgian resident families at this moment.

Countries of transit aren't mentioned. The country of destination is the
USA, if for someone the port of immigration was located in Canada, but
she/he settled in the USA, etc ...

>The following format is required to qualify for publication in this
>Immigrants List:
>SURNAME ; first name(s) ; Place of origin, Country ; >First place of
>settlement abroad, Country ; year of immigration ; researcher's e-mail address
>· One (1) relevant data entry per person.
>· ; } Semicolon ... MUST be used as a separator between the six fields;
>· , } Comma ... used to specify the province, or county, in which
>the place is located·
> [see below for a list of posible abbreviations]
>· > } Lesser-than sign ... used to indicate the place of first
>settlement;
>· / } Slash ... used to separate two years, to indicate a period if
>you are not sure about the exact year of immigration.

The signature of the message must identify the poster with at least his
real first name, surname, country of residence.

The poster can add, after the Roll Call line(s), some additional info about
these emigrants. What info do you have, what do you look for, etc ... But
be short. Don't explain the details. This additional info will not be
published on the site.

Use CAPITALS for the surnames and locations in that extra text, but only
CAPITALS for the surnames in each Roll Call line.

I hope that those who aren't yet listed on our Roll Call pages will post
their data. And those who are listed can, if they like or if some data has
changed. With that you will help each other. And that's the target of this
list.

We do have +850 subscribers on this list. Postpone to post your data,
if you see that the list is submerged (+40 mails a day). But try to post
before end of September. I will not update the Roll Call pages before October.

Luc Matthijs
