On an 1833 ship's passenger list I found a male Belgian passenger with the
first name of Chartel. Can anyone tell me the English equivalent of Chartel?
In an 1835 Ohio church marriage record written in Latin one of the witnesses
first name is Carolus. I do not know if this is a man or a woman. Can anyone
tell me the English equivalent of Carolus?
