I believe, becoming a Canadian citizen, while Nestor immigrated to the
U.S. They were coal miners. Does anyone know how I could get a copy of
Alfred`s citizenship papers?
Also, I have been trying to find the origin of the Peters name but all I
can find is either German or from the British Isles nothing about the
name being Belgian. Any help would be appreciated. Kay >>

My ancestor, Andre PIERRE from Jamoigne, emigrated in the 1850s settling at
Leopold in Perry County, Indiana. In this country he was known as Andrew
PETER, and some of his descendants are using the surname PETERS. Perhaps
your ancestor's surname was PIERRE when he left Belgium.
